Prognosis of breast cancer

Prognosis means the results of possible future disease based on the relevant facts of this case. All findings from clinical examination and pathology investigations and reports are important and should be considered together to decide the prognosis of individual cases of breast cancer.

  Doctors look for the following features:
  - The size of breast cancer is important. In general, the larger the cancer, the more likely the cancer will recur. Size of breast cancer also affects whether breast conservation is an option.
  - How many of the lymph nodes in the armpit are involved? Lymph nodes are involved, the more likely the cancer will recur.
  - Does the pathologist to see high-risk features such as involvement of blood vessels or lymph channels in the resected specimen? Whether cancer cells are mature or immature?
